Maine has so many wonderful adventures to offer! Whether taking in the sights, shopping or dinning out, the options are endless! We are constantly fine-tuning this curated list to help you find exactly what you’re looking for during your stay at Eagle’s Rest Cabin Rental. Or reach out if you’re looking for more specific recommendations!

Walking Distance…

Just across the street at Paul’s Marina, you can grab a lobster roll and an ice cream cone at Judy’s General Store and sit outside at a picnic table watching the boats go by.

Do you like oysters? Mere Point Oyster Company is just across the way. Order ahead of time, choose “local pick up” at checkout, and walk over from Eagle’s Rest to pick up when you’re ready to get shucking! There is an oyster shucker provided in the cabin, and if you need some guidance, check out Mere Point Oyster Co’s video with tips and tricks on shucking your delicious oysters.

A short 15 minute walk brings you to the Mere Point Boat Launch. There’s a small sandy area (depending on the tide) and some picnic tables for enjoying the ocean air (sorry no swimming allowed!). Or drive your kayak or boat down and explore the bay.

10 Minute Drive…

Every Saturday 8:30am-12:30pm, the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust Farmer’s Market opens. Here’s a list of the vendors you can find there, including Mere Point Oyster Co.

Wildflours Gluten-Free Bakery has perfected the gluten-free game. We’re especially fond of the dream bars.. yum!

Wild Oats has something for everyone- perfect for packing a picnic! Soups, sandwiches, cookies, smoothies.. you name it, they probably make it.

Want to spend the day (or week) on the water? Rent a kayak from Paddle Maine, and put in just down the street at the Mere Point Boat Launch.

Downtown Brunswick has lots of fun shops and delicious food! Cafes, asian cuisine, gelato, eclectic decor, Maine-themed shops, and see if you can spot the Bowdoin campus right off the main street.

Portland…

Take an afternoon to visit Portland. There is endless entertainment in Portland, so here are just a few of our favorites..

Sights: Take a boat over to one of the islands with Casco Bay Lines. Bring a blanket the Eastern Prom, which has a selection of amazing food trucks on the weekends, walking trails along the water, and the East End Beach if you want to cool off.

Shopping/Culture: Portland Flea-For-All has lots of local vendors selling vintage, unique, handmade, curated items, but without the dust and clutter you get with traditional flea markets. In the heart of the city, next to Congress Square Park, and just across the street from the Portland Museum of Art.

Lisa-Marie’s Made in Maine features all locally & handmade goods from Made artists. A great place to visit one block up from the working water front, in the Portland Old Port. You know you’re there when you hit the cobblestone streets.

For Lunch: Nura makes tasty falafel. The Market House has something for everyone. Romana’s, Becky’s Dinner, Portland Lobster Company.

For Dinner: Leeward makes exquisite pasta dishes and equally delicious cocktails. Central Provisions has small plates with big flavor. Honey Paw, Cong Tu Bot, Terlingua.

Lobster Rolls: J’s Oysters, Eventide, Luke’s Lobster, Highroller Lobster Co.
